Headlines January 28 – 31
Funnyman Lavell Crawford is quickly climbing the comedic ranks and becoming one rising comedy star to watch. From his numerous television appearances and on stage performances, audiences are becoming increasingly familiar with Lavell’s giant-sized talent.
Heard of Moshe Kasher yet? He recently appeared on Comedy Central’s Live At Gotham and his debut album, Everyone you Know is Going to Die, and Then you Are (Unless you Die First), was named one of the twenty best comedy albums of 2009. SacramentoComedy.Com recently had a chance to talk to this future big-name about his writing process, the parallels between hip-hop and stand-up, and how the “almost gay” thing is more than a passing fad.

Gina Yashere broke onto the American comedy scene with her appearances on Last Comic Standing (NBC) where she made it to the final 10. Gina’s unique take on being both a cultural insider and outsider has wowed audiences not just in the UK, but also in America, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Canada, and all over Europe.

A member of the Axis of Evil Comedy Tour that recently had an acclaimed special on Comedy Central, Iranian/American Maz Jobrani has performed standup on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.”
Twitter gets criticized for being little more than a venue for celebrities to publicize even the most fleeting, inane ephemera of their lives. Admittedly, this criticism is frequently apt.

Trust Us, This Is All Made Up, a feature-length documentary exploring the legendary long-form improvisation of Second City alumni TJ Jagodowski and David Pasquesi. The critically-acclaimed film world premiered at the 2009 SXSW Film Festival and now is premiering in Sacramento at the Guild Theater. Since 1994 John has performed at comedy clubs and colleges throughout the United States and Canada. In addition to his headlining appearances, John’s been the opening act for such comedians as Louie Anderson, Pauly Shore, Lewis Black, and The Chappelle Show’s own Charlie Murphy.
The Sacramento comedy community is hosting a Haitian Earthquake Relief Benefit show on Tuesday, February 2nd at the Sacramento Punchline.
Join host Keith Lowell Jensen and headliners; Ngaio Bealum, Dennis Gaxiola, Marcella Arguello, Ray Molina, Chazz Hawkins and more as they donate their funny to help the relief drive for the Haitian Earthquake victims.
100% of the proceeds are to be donated to the American Red Cross Haitian Relief Effort as the Sacramento Punchline and all of the comics are donating their time to this cause.
