The big news today regarding the Tommy T’s MDA Fundraiser (“Comedy Made Accessible”) taking place this Thursday, May 27th, can be summed up in two words. Bobby Slayton!
The legendary comedian/actor known worldwide as the “Pit Bull of Comedy” will be joining the benefit Thursday night to help raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Slayton is booked to play Tommy T’s all this coming weekend, but has added an extra night to take part in the MDA event.
A few weeks ago, Tony Hicks from the Contra Costa Times had a chance to talk with Dana Carvey as he was getting ready to perform for the HomeAid Northern California benefit in Walnut Creek California.
In reports by the various newspapers and the Associated Press, the Los Angeles Dodgers are cracking down on comedian Jon Lovitz and others for not paying for their season tickets.
Comedian Nick Thune takes over role in NBC Pilot vacated by Patton Oswalt

Patton Oswalt has decided to pass on starring opposite Matthew Broderick in the still untitled NBC pilot. NBC had to rush to fill a role left open by comedian Patton Oswalt (who hasn’t publically given a reason for his departure), and it looks like NBC has found their man; And that man plays a mean guitar.
Raphie May had a message to deliver Thursday at the Crest Theater for those who are haters, lovers, racists, gay or homophobes. Embrace it. Own it. His humor is like that of many comedy greats who pushed the status quo — Lenny Bruce, Sam Kinison, Doug Stanhope and Richard Pryor. It earned him certain bragging rights. May was the first comedian in more than 10 years to receive a standing ovation on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno.
What happens when you get five very funny women on one stage, at one time? You get estrogen charged hilarity! This group, led by Sacramento’s favorite cougar, Cheryl “The Soccer Mom” Anderson, is joined by Kristen Frisk, Kimmie Kay, Stephanie Garcia and Sinderella. And even if they don’t all live in Rio Linda, isn’t Rio Linda really just a state of mind?

Josh Wolf is currently a regular on the hit E! series “Chelsea Lately” and is currently touring with Larry The Cable Guy and Chelsea Handler. Josh is also co-writing a feature for Sony and Happy Madison and hosts “The College Experiment,” a comedic weekly online college football show for Fox Sports. This year he will be touring with “The Comedians of Chelsea Lately.”

Michael O’Connell, who himself has Muscular Dystrophy, has been making news with his unique brand of disability-themed comedy around Sacramento. He reached the final round of the Tommy T’s Talent Search Finals, finishing second overall, and has been playing clubs and rooms all over the city.

Darryl Lenox rocks a comedy club like a Southern preacher rocks a church. He prowls the stage as audiences laugh out their Amens! One fateful night, Lenox took a dare to stop talking about greatness and rather, go achieve it, so he entered an open mic competition in Seattle. Greatness did not occur that night, but inspiration did. Word spread, and with increasing amounts of stage time in Seattle and through the Northwest, a world-class stand-up comedian was born.
