Adam Carolla Wins Long Beach Pro-Celebrity Race

Adam Carolla is this year’s Toyota Grand Prix Pro-Celebrity winner. The host of the Adam Carolla Show podcast and part-time voice of Death on Family Guy came in first after finishes in third and ninth in the previous two years. The race was held for charity with Toyota donating $5000 to Miller Children’s Hospital and Racing for Kids for each participant and an additional $5000 to Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, Carolla’s charity of choice.

The comedian joked before the race, “It’s fun to get to crash other people’s stuff for charity.” The win exceeded his personal expectations saying, “In my past races, I finished third and ninth, so I expected to finish somewhere between 15th and 18th this time.”

But Carolla was quick to point the spotlight on the charity and on the kids, praising the bravery and courage required by them as well as their parents, calling them “heroes” and saying, “we go cheer the kids up but to me a lot of it is about the parents.”

The race was by no means a marathon. It was a quick 10 lap race highlighted by a competitive battle for first between Carolla and CSI: NY star Hill Harper who clocked the fastest lap time of any pro or celebrity. When asked about this detail Carolla replied, “I’ll remember that when I’m polishing my trophy.”
