AmericasComedy.Com’s Best Dressed Comedian List

russell brand, tina feyHollywood is a competitive business where it’s easy to get lost within all the talent. This is especially true of stand-up comedians, who may have different material, but let’s face it; all they do is stand there and tell us jokes. That’s why a little gimmick like a guitar or puppet can go a long way to set them apart from the rest. But with recent innovations in fashion and celebrity (think Lady Gaga) comedians have been using their appearance to stand out. Here is our list of the top five comedians today that not only have amazing style but have used it in their comedy to create a unique, marketable persona.

5. Tina Fey
With her signature rimmed glasses and cardigans, Fey has used her librarian chic style to create the character of Liz Lemon on 30 Rock. Though hers may not be the most fashion forward statement, her consistent portrayal of Liz as an everywoman is what makes her both hilarious and adorable.

4. Aziz Ansari
Ansari always looks like he just stepped out of the pages of GQ with his fitted suits and never being caught in jeans. What do you expect from a buddy of Kanye West? This style-savvy appearance has translated to his most famous role as Tom Haverford on Parks and Recreation. Haverford is obsessed with everything that evokes swag or shows off his bling. Tom not only tried to pull off sequined gloves at a government office but also wears cashmere on a camping trip. These bold statements helped make Tom lovable and memorable and have made Ansari a noted celebrity within the fashion world.

3. Russell Brand
If you were to see Brand walking down the street, chances are you wouldn’t have to think twice before knowing it was him. His eccentric style of rock glam from his hair to his shoes has made him stand-put ever since he hit the American scene with Aldus Snow in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Brand’s stand-up and character work allow him to flex his various creative and stylistic muscles.

2. Joan Rivers
Rivers has made a name for herself as the HBIC of style on E’s Fashion Police, where no celebrity on the red carpet is safe from her snarky critiques of their clothing. Rivers, herself, makes bold statements which suit her. Even for comedians, no one but Rivers can pull off that much fur or jewelry. From her signature look Rivers has moved on to entrepreneurial ventures with her own line of jewelry and accessories through HSN.

1. Paul F. Tompkins
Paul F. Tompkins doesn’t look like it, but he can pull off almost any style and color of suit and bow tie and still maintain a gentlemanly appearance. Tompkins shows that a comedian can have style and class while still not taking himself too seriously.
