‘Anchorman’ Sequel Finally Arrives: ‘I Love Scotch. Scotchy, Scotch, Scotch’

Before The Hangover dominated the pantheon of comedy films, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy was the film all your friends would sit around and quote. Now, it’s sequel is finally here after eight inexcusable years.
The first thing I wondered was what stars would be returning. I’m excited to say that Anchorman 2 has managed to bring back Steve Carell (the guy who brought to life TV’s most hilarious character ever, Michael Scott) as well as Paul Rudd (I Love You Man, and of course, Clueless).
Judd Apatow, who is contractually obligated by Hollywood to produce every single comedy film that get’s greenlighted, is on board, and so is Adam McKay, who will co-write the sequel with Will Ferrell. Ferrell will return as the main character, Ron Burgundy. The actor/comedian has attempted to get Anchorman 2 made for quite a while now, saying last May, “Anchorman 2, you really have to assert some sort of email hate campaign to Paramount Pictures. They’ve told us, ‘We’ve run the numbers and it’s not a good fit.’”
It’s not clear who was running the numbers at Paramount at the time, but I’m assuming that intern has now been fired.
The announcement came via TBS’ Conan which you can watch here:
