Bill Maher Interviews Seth MacFarlane, Talks ‘Family Guy’s’ Controversial Content

seth mcfarlane, bill maher, piers morganIn a interesting twist to CNN’s show Piers Morgan Tonight, comedian Bill Maher filled in for the British host and interviewed Family Guy superstar Seth MacFarlane.

Maher, who is known for his terrific interviews on his hit HBO show Real Time, addressed some of the questionable content on the cartoon show, and asked MacFarlane how he gets away with such “raunchy material.”

“Do you feel like you’ve gotten a lot of arrows for your raunchiness? You are so raunchy,” Maher said.

“You can’t joke about things like domestic violence in a live-action show,” said MacFarlane. “We’ve done episodes where we’ve had the whole family in anger management, and Peter hitting Louis and Louis hitting Peter, and I don’t think that would work with Debra (Romano) and Ray (Ramano).”

Family Guy recently got in hot water over an ad they included in a DVD box set  that said, “Come on, you bloated, over-privileged Brentwood Jews. Let us into your little club.” The ad was their pitch to win over some Emmy voters.

Maher admitted to watching Family Guy regularly, and even seemed a little jealous of MacFarlane’s ability to address so many issues with so little reprecussions. Check out the video below. Do you think Maher would make a better host than Piers Morgan? Let us know!
