A true comic’s comic, Bobby Slayton is best known for his title as the “Pit Bull of Comedy.” He has been performing his own intense style of standup comedy for 25 years, becoming one of the best known, and most energetic, comedians on the road.
Among his feature rolls, Slayton can be seen opposite Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton in the MGM feature film “Bandits,” directed by Barry Levinson. In the film, Slayton plays Darren Head, the host of the tabloid TV show “Crime Stoppers,” who follows the exploits of two bank robbers (Willis and Thornton). The two break into the home of Slayton’s character and force him to report on their story from their own point of view.
Slayton was a regular in the HBO series “The Mind of the Married Man”. The show, created by and starring Mike Binder, followed a trio of reporters at a Chicago newspaper who try to remain faithful to their wives. Slayton, playing a character aptly named “Slayton,” portrayed a married friend of Binder’s who is also struggling to remain faithful to his wife.
Slayton’s first comedy CD “Raging Bully” was released to critical acclaimed and excellent reviews. It quickly became a cult favorite. The one-hour live recording addresses topics such as the death penalty, romance, porn and sexism – all topics that Slayton is quick to take on, onstage and off. He also taped his own half hour comedy special, for Channel 5 in the United Kingdom, at London’s Comedy Store.
