Christopher Titus jokes about things most comics would find impossible to make funny. Custody battles, insanity, family suicides, heart attacks, and fist fighting his father are all topics to be confronted, not hidden from. “I think our collective psychosis is hilarious.
With the world moving as fast as it is, if we weren’t dysfunctional, we couldn’t function,” says Titus. Starting at age eighteen, he used to wait outside the comedy clubs with the door cracked, listening for his intro so he could rush to the stage, do his set and make a quick exit because he was under age.
Twelve years later Christopher is one of the best headliners in the country with a unique and insightful act based on his one-of-a-kind life experiences. Titus is that most rare of comics in that his material is edgy and pushes the envelope, but is still accessible and meaningful to the common audience.
After much experimentation, he debuted his one man show “Norman Rockwell Is Bleeding” at The Hudson Theater in Los Angeles. The packed house gave him a standing ovation. His show has certainly evolved from the days when he was touring the country as Kenny Loggins’ opening act doing what he refers to as his old “happy boy” act.
Christopher’s stand-up television appearances include NBC’s “Comedy Showcase” and “Friday Night!”, A & E’s “An Evening At The Improv” and “Caroline’s Comedy Hour,” and Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend.” A trained and serious actor, his television guest appearances include Fox’s “21 Jump Street,” “Damon” and “Beyond Belief,” NBC’s “Jenny,” and ABC’s “Lois & Clark.” His film credits include co-starring roles in the nuclear submarine thriller “Crash Dive,” and the cult classic “Killer Clowns From Outer Space.”
Christopher was a stand-out at the 1996, 1997 and 1999 Montreal Just for Laughs Festivals. He was the star, executive producer and co-creator of the FOX hit sitcom “Titus,” a dark comedy based on “Norman Rockwell Is Bleeding.” Time Magazine called Titus “brutal, hilarious and audacious,” while Newsday called him “T.V.’s most original comic voice since ‘Seinfeld’.”
