Comedian Conan O’Brien Buys Tech News Company Mashable, Ousts CEO for $3500

“Hello fellow Mashables, Conan O’Brien here, and I’ve got big news,” the leader of Team Coco said today via Mashable’s YouTube channel. What followed was an announcement that Conan O’Brien, upset with how poorly up to date Mashable is with it’s features and ideas, has bought the tech news company for “3500 Smackaroos.”

“I go to Mashabale, I see the atrocious job they’re doing, and I decided it’s time for me to take over,” Conan declared.

The odd man out in this equation is Mashable CEO Pete Cashmore, who was berated by Conan via telephone prior to asking for a buyout. ”Hours ago I called Pete Cashmore and I told him GET OUT! GET OUT! YOUR THROUGH CASHMORE! GET OUT!…Now keep in mind I was screaming ‘Get out!’ on a phone call and he was talking from home so it wasn’t clear where I was throwing him out of…”

As you can imagine, the popularity of Mashable is probably shooting through the roof right now thanks to the added publicity and ridiculousness of a late night talk show host buying a company for about how much a used car costs.

Of course this could all be an April Fools’ joke…but then again what comedian would do something funny on the ultimate day of pranks? No way right?
