Drew Carey, comedian and host of the popular TV show “The Price Is Right,” is participating in this year’s Disney Half-Marathon.
The 13.1-mile race will begin at 6 a.m. Sunday morning. The course stretches through Disneyland, Disney California Adventure and various Anaheim sites with Disney characters cheering all the participants. The runners will receive a specially-designed medal based on the Sleeping Beauty Castle.
The marathon is expected to have over 20,000 runners this year. The individual entry spots were filled up in March – the earliest the race has sold out. Last year 14,000 runners took part in the half-marathon.
“I’ll be running the @Disney half-marathon Sunday in Anaheim,” Carey announced on his Twitter account. “My run mileage varies. Some speed days, some distance days. Usually 4-5 days a week. This will be only my 2nd 1/2 marathon.”
Carey is the first celebrity to have entered this marathon in its six-year history. Carey’s former co-star from “The Drew Carey Show” Megyn Price will take part in starting line activities for the half-marathon.
