Comedian Tracy Morgan Discusses Anti-Gay Remarks on Late Show

If you’ve heard about the Tracy Morgan homophobic slurs once, then you’ve heard it twice. At one of his stand up shows in Nashville earlier in June he made the regrettable comment about what he might do to his son if he were gay. Not to call him out or anything, but he may have used the words “stab” and “to death” in his routine. Those are some violent words that people don’t respond kindly to. And as it went, Morgan didn’t really get the relief he was hoping for. Although he may have said some pretty intense things, he has definitely came out and expressed his deepest apologies.
After the controversy died down, the 30 Rock star talked about the backlash, stating that people may not have understood his “style.” Morgan stepped onto the Late Show and expressed what he learned from the incident.
“At the end of the day, I’m a comedian. I try to use my gift that God gave me to help the world, to heal the world, not to hurt anyone,” said Morgan. “I was hurt by it because people came to the show and were bummed out so I apologize to those folks that came and was bummed out…….I just think it was a misunderstanding, I was up there working. Sometimes when you have networks like maybe Comedy Central it’s premise, setup, punchline, premise, setup, punchline. But I came up under the old regime, sometimes I have to get to it. And I guess that became a big misunderstanding.”
