Do Comedians Lose Their Groove When They Lose Weight?

jonah hill, comedian, weight lossDoes size really play a factor in if someone is funny or not? That seems to be the myth between some larger comedians and their skeptic fans.

When Jonah Hill appeared on Live With Regis and Kelly earlier in this the week, he probably assumed  he was being interviewed about his new movie MoneyBall. But what really happened was when Hill came into their sights, they couldn’t seem to talk about anything other than how good he looked in his skinny jeans.

Hill has seemed to have had a makeover since he became “skinny.” Just take a look at his recent talks on Letterman, Fallon, and Conan. He has been looking all sorts of suave and everyone wants to know how he feels and if all the funny left with the chub. Salon.com pointed out, “He’s trim and stylish– and almost completely unrecognizable from the portly schlub that audiences fell in love with in films like Superbad.”

Hill told Regis and Kelly,”I decided I wanted to be healthier, and I stuck with that decision.” The questions were quite repetitive this week during interviews for Hill and he answered as if already prepared. He was aware that it was time to make some changes when his nutritionist “had me write down what my favorite foods were, and it was like, the menu of a 6-year-old’s birthday party.”

This will definitely be good for Hill in the long run for a number reason. One important reason: his health.

Twitter fans seem less involved with his diet and more interested in whether the Get Him to the Greek star can still make them laugh.

Tom Arnold is understanding to comedians and how they may be sensitive to the comments. ”It’s the same mistake people make about when [comedians] quit drugs. They think that when people lose weight, they won’t be funny.”

The truth is, Hill is still funny, and this will probably boost his self-esteem and make him even more comical.
