Dylan Brody’s Neighbor’s Couch with Vicki Abelson

This was a very interesting interview for me because of so many overlaps with the guest. Vicki worked in the music industry and I worked in the music industry, albeit at a much lower level and in a different capacity. Vicki hosts a forum for comedians called Women Who Write and I host a forum for comedians; albeit at a much lower level and in a different capacity.
Our tastes in comedy are similar as well. Guests that we’ve both had in our forums include Suzanne Whang, Dylan Brody, Wendy Liebman, Kelly Carlin, Paul Provenza, Fred Stoller , Chris Bonno, and a few others. So that was really cool and it led to a discussion about booking guests in the digital age. There was some talk about her connection to the Howard Stern show, of which I’m a big fan.
It seems I’ve just told you about how the interview relates to me. What an ego I have! Actually it is Vicki’s story, or as much of it as you can fit in an hour, covering her life as a music promoter, comedian and actress. Just a ton of interesting stories, and much more. There is also a segment about how women are treated in the comedy world, a subject that I find equally fascinating and disturbing. And by fascinating I mean it absolutely boggles my mind.
So sit back and take a listen. I hope you find the conversation as enjoyable as I did. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Vicki Abelson.
