George is having a party!

Comedian George Lopez is debuting his own late night talk show, November 9th on TBS.
Is this a good idea? Now don’t get me wrong.. but I wonder how much is motivated by his criticism of Jay Leno, a one time “good friend,” calling himĀ “the biggest two-faced dude in TV” and calling him a terrible interviewer. But George also scrapped it up with fellow comedian Carlos Mencia and accused him of stealing some of his material for Carlos’ HBO special.
What most people don’t know is that Lopez has a genetic condition that caused his kidneys to deteriorate; the congenital abnormality caused a narrowing of his ureters, the tubes through which urine travels from each kidney to the bladder. His doctors had told him in April 2004 that he was going to require an organ transplant but he postponed the operation until after finishing the 4th season of George Lopez so as not to hurt the 170 people who worked on his show. In 2005, his wife Ann donated one of her kidneys to Lopez. The transplant was successful; Lopez lost 45 lbs. after the operation due in part to having his health so vastly improved. He brought awareness to the issue on his show; his son, Max, was diagnosed with a similar illness.
Actually, I think his wife is a saint! When I mentioned this act of kindness to Mrs. Comedy Guy and asked her if she would do the same, she just smiled and said that we should just wait and see.. What?
I am hoping George does well. The premiere is set for Nov. 9th. The show will run Monday through Thursday for an hour beginning at 11 pm.
