George Lopez Prepares for Next HBO Appearance

The multi-talented George Lopez is gearing up for his latest appearance on HBO. His newest stand-up special, GEORGE LOPEZ: IT’S NOT ME IT’S YOU will air LIVE on HBO on Saturday, July 14 from 10-11 PM EST. The show will be filmed at the famed Nokia Theatre, a venue that Lopez has sold out 24 times, a record for the space.
Lopez is standing on solid ground on HBO after his stand-up special, Tall, Dark and Chicano aired in 2009. This special was the highest rated stand-up special on the network in five years. After that, he went on to work on other projects at HBO such as “America’s Mexican,” a live stand-up special, the film Real Women Have Curves and commented on “Inside the NFL.”
Lopez has been on tour in America for six months, scrutinizing every detail of his schtick, perfecting his act. He says in interviews conducted by HBO that he prefers to do live specials because his first stand-up special was taped and the director took out some jokes that Lopez would have preferred to have in the set.
This special will be directed and produced by Troy Miller, who has produced such series as Flight of the Concords and Bored to Death. Thanks to uncensored TV and the inability to edit anything out, this time Lopez will have full control of the content of this performance.
