Comedian and actor George Lopez is getting ready to try the role of matchmaker. Lopez will host a new show called Take Me Out, based on its hugely successful international format.
Filmed in front of a live audience, the series will feature 30 single women in search of finding a match, and several bachelors whose sole task is to impress the ladies and take a lucky one on an ultimate dream date. Every week the women are introduced to several bachelors one by one. Each woman stands on a podium with a switch that will determine the fate of her future date. If she thinks it’s a match, she turns the light on.
As more females lose interest, the potential date takes control of the game by eliminating the females he is not into, until there are only two women left. During the last round, the bachelor gets to ask the final question to choose the winner and sweep her off her feet.
“I am thrilled to be hosting such an entertaining new series,” said Lopez. “Anything can happen on a show like Take Me Out and I’m looking forward to the excitement.”
Executive producer Jeff Apploff remarked, ”George’s amazing energy, spirit and incredible comedic timing make him the perfect host for Take Me Out.”
Take Me Out is produced by FremantleMedia North America. The show is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, June 7 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET/PT) on Fox.
