In the recent music creation by the Lonely Island, “We’re Back,” the crew portrays themselves has hard core rappers.
“We started this fake rap shit, the world needs us,”Jorma Taccone raps in the music video.
But in an recent interview with Dave Itzkoff of the New York Times, Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Taccone admit that they are just a few nerds.
“We’re just like any comedian or musician who was a huge nerd when they were younger and then turned into an adult,” Samberg said in the interview.
The Lonely Island crew are responsible for making digital shorts on Saturday Night Live that have quickly gone viral, such as; “Lazy Sunday,” “I’m on a Boat,” and “Dick in a Box.” The funny trio are ready to unveil their new album this Tuesday, “Turtleneck & Chain” that will feature “The Creep” and “Mother Lover.”
“We’ve always subscribed to comedy that, when at all possible, isn’t making fun of other people. So the alternative to that is making fun of ourselves. At least we’re in control of that,” Samberg added in the interview.
