Gilbert Gottfried proves with Funny or Die that he is “too soon” at cracking jokes about sensitive topics.
Punchline Magazine has reported that comedian Gilbert Gottfried is the star of the new video called “Too Soon” which features him cracking jokes about tragedies that have occurred throughout history. The humorous video has him poking fun of the sinking of the Titanic, the assignation of JFK, the extinction of dinosaurs, and even the fall of Rome.
The video was most likely made in response after his firing from the voice of the Aflac duck shortly after he tweeted remarks about the earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan.
“Japan called me. They said ‘maybe those jokes are a hit in the U.S., but over here, they’re all sinking,” Gottfried tweeted, according to CNN.
The insurance company fired him because they felt that Gottfried was “lacking in humor” and he did not represent “thoughts or feelings of anyone at Aflac.” But the comedian admits that he meant no harm done with his tweets.
“I meant no disrespect, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families,” Gottfried said in a statement.
