Julia Louis-Dreyfus to Star in HBO’s ‘VEEP’

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is one heartbeat away from being the President of the United States!  Literally.  The Emmy award winner will return to the small screen to star in the highly anticipated HBO series, VEEP.

Created by Armando Iannucci along with executive producers Frank Rich and Christoper Godsick, VEEP tells the story of Selina Mayer, a former senator who is elected vice president of the United States. She quickly discovers that being vice president is not as glamorous as she expected, but rather tumultuous and troublesome. Not only is she responsible for defending the president’s interests at hand, she also has to find the time to juggle her private life, her busy schedule and improve her defective relationship with the chief executive.

VEEP was originally  based on Iannucci’s BBC television sitcom The Thick of It back in 2005, which was set in a fictional department of the British government. ABC later picked the series as a pilot for an American version but it was later dropped in 2007. After being dropped by ABC, Iannucci and HBO team up to adapt the series into what it is today. And like the saying goes, third time’s a charm.

The extensive cast includes: Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Matt Walsh, Reid Scott, Timothy C. Simons, and Sufe Bradshaw.  The season premier of VEEP is April 22 exclusively on HBO. Don’t miss it!
