Larry Wilmore’s “Race, Religion & Sex”

larry wilmore, hbo, premiereThe Daily Show correspondent Larry Wilmore is branching away from his three-minute political humor segments with host Jon Stewart. Wilmore will be premiering his own comedy special Larry Wilmore’s Race, Religion & Sex on Showtime this Saturday at 11 p.m. ET.

LaughSpin reported that this is not the usual comedy special.  Wilmore hosts a town meeting, part stand-up show in Utah, moderating debates and doing man-on-the-street pieces.

The trailer for the comedy series shows Wilmore onstage with gay rights activist Troy Williams, Mormon leader Don Harwell, and comedians Andrea Savage and Jeff Garlin.

“You are a Black Mormon conservative…how do you keep your black card?” Wilmore jokes with Harwell.

Wilmore talks about whatever comes to mind, leaving no subject left unturned.  Even his own personal business is up for grabs.

“Nobody needs to know if and when I masturbate…unless they read my Facebook, but other than that…” Wilmore joked.

Huffington Post reported that Utah’s glaring lack of black people and Mormonism make up most of the material in this comedy series.  As we know, Wilmore has no problem joking about the sensitive things in society, as he has proved in The Daily Show.

Race, Religion & Sex premieres Saturday, August 25 at 11 p.m. ET on Showtime.
