The lineup is no where near complete, but the big names committed so far are: Aziz Ansari, Patton Oswalt, Bill Engvall, John Oliver, Kevin Smith, Vince Vaughn, Jeff Ross, Amy Schumer, Henson Alternative’s ‘Stuffed and Unstrung,’ Stephen Merchant, Mike Birbiglia, Bill Gardell, John Pinette and The Dan Band.
The six-day event, taking place this year on June 12-17, will be held in 15 different locations throughout Chicago and is sponsored by TBS. The festival will feature stand-up comedy, sketch performances, musical comedy acts, a Q&A with Kevin Smith, a dirty improv puppet show, Mike Birbiglia’s off-Broadway hit “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend” and much more.
With such high exposure of female comics in the news these days, one thing notably missing from the festival so far…female comics. Amy Schumer, who will have her own night of stand-up at Park West, is the only female comic booked so far, but I am sure that will change as more acts get signed. Vince Vaughn, more known for his acting skills than his comedy, will host and perform in “a special evening of surprises and hilarity” with other comedians. Having already sold out two shows at the Chicago Theater, headliner Aziz Ansari will add more shows and those tickets will go on sale this Saturday, April 14 at 10:00 p.m..
