Old McDonald has a farm, but Michael McDonald has the whole Improv theater waiting for him this weekend. The funnyman is coming to Chicago to give a performance you don’t want to miss.
McDonald became famous during his ten-year run on Fox’s sketch comedy show MAD TV. While there, he created quite a few characters like man-child Stuart Larkin, Marvin Tikkvah, Rusty Miller, and Mofaz, The Depressed Persian Tow Truck Man and the Bible Dude that quickly became widely popular.
But his first professional writing and acting jobs came from Concorde Pictures, a low budget film studio. He successfully landed dozens of roles, including guest spots on Seinfeld, Ellen, Just Shoot Me and NewsRadio.but eventually moved behind the scenes to write and direct. McDonald left MAD TV in 2007 to work on variety television shows like Scrubs, Desperate Housewives, Pushing Daisies, Reaper, Kath & Kim, Head Case, Hannah Montana, and Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List.
In addition to touring the country with his stand-up routine, McDonad is also working as writer/producer/director on ABC’s Cougar Town and touring the country as a stand up comedian.
McDonald will perform at The Chicago’s Improv on Friday, May 27 at 8 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. and on Saturday, May 28 at 7 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.
