May the Best School Win: Rooftop’s College Comedy Competition

The annual TBS sponsored Rooftop National College Comedy Competition is heating up with the leading teams and longtime rivals Cal and Stanford pitted against each other. The competitions began five years ago as a talent search to help find the funniest students around the country. Each of the 32 campuses chooses 8 of their top comedians to compete in teams, using elimination rounds from both live shows and the internet until only one team is left as the winner. The winning team, along with the MVP, will receive a slot on TBS Presents Just for Laughs Chicago.
The festival is currently on its third round (the Regionals Round) with videos posted online for the public to decide who will make it to the Quarterfinals. History seems to be on Berkeley’s side, having won in the last three years over Stanford within the Regionals to Semi-final rounds. Though not making it much further, last year’s winner was Penn State University. Whoever wins, the process is going to be both fun and entertaining for the audience.
For current college students looking to break into the world of stand-up comedy, this competition just may be your chance. Check to see if your school is registered on www.TBS.com and if it isn’t send in an email for consideration for 2013.
