NBC Comedy Pilot ‘Next Caller Please’ to Feature Dane Cook

Dane Cook is set to tackle a brand new challenge – acting in a television series. The stand-up comedian-turned-feature actor is going to star in NBC’s half-hour single camera comedy pilot Next Caller Please. The comedian signed an overall deal with the network in September.

Penned by Weeds producer Stephen Falk, the show will center on Cam Doherty, a cocky, hard-drinking DJ of a New-York based satellite radio show. His alpha male world is disturbed when a new perky feminist on-air co-host Stella Stoobler (played by Cougar Town‘s Collette Wolfe) shows up. Like Weeds, the project comes from Universal Television and Lionsgate TV. Marc Buckland will direct the pilot.

Cook has had a very successful career in stand-up, selling out the venues all over the world. His recent recent credits include features My Best Friend’s Girl, Dan in Real LifeMr. Brooks and Employee of the Month. Cook also guest starred last year on CBS’ Hawaii Five-0.
