Comedian Denis Leary, the star of FX’s hit show Rescue Me, released three songs entitled “Douchebag,” “F.U,” and “At the Rehab” this Monday. Leary has done comedy songs in the past, including his most famous hit “I’m an Asshole,” which came out in 1993 and made fun of the typical American male.
Rescue Me will be entering its 8th season starting tonight. The actor has been preparing for promotional work that includes two live performances in New Jersey, on his stand-up “Thinning the Herd Tour.” The tour will also feature Rescue Me actors Adam Ferrara and Lenny Clarke.
Leary and co-creator Peter Tolan plan to cap off the series by the donating props from the show to the Smithsonian Museum’s pop culture collection. Rescue Me apparel and props strongly resemble New York City firefighters, which the show was largely based off of in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Leary also runs a charity fund for the family’s of fallen fire fighters called “Fund for New York’s Bravest.”
