Growing Comedy Magazine Looking for Ambitious Editors

Are you an aspiring editor looking to hone your skills for online publishing? AmericasComedy.Com is an online comedy magazine that has grown it’s traffic nearly 100% in the past year. We’re looking for editors who love what they do and have a passion for comedy.

The world of journalism is now almost fully merged with the world wide web, and individuals with online editing skills are at a premium.  If you have prior editing experience and are searching for an online internship, look no further!

Job Description

Two days a week, for a couple hours each night, you will be responsible for editing comedy news posts, album reviews, interviews, feature stories or anything else our crazy writers come up with. Making a story fit for online publication requires lots of anchorlinking, finding the right pictures and video and filling out our Search Engine Optimization pack.

When you’re done editing the stories, you’ll need to hit up our various social media accounts, as well as your own, and get them out to the public using the latest optimization strategies. If you understand the best practices for using social media, then you have what we’re looking for! If you don’t, consider this a valuable opportunity to learn.

Training

Like any job, the more skills and experience you have the better. But don’t think that you need to know everything before coming on board. Already we have trained a few individuals to handle the editing duties for our website, and we’re happy to help fill the gaps in your resume so that you can excel at this position. You will also learn new job skills that will assist you in the future:

- Understanding of HTML

- The very best Search Engine Optimization strategies

- Uploading photos, videos and anchorlinking

- Building an audience and fan community via social media

- Online analytics terminology

- A thorough understanding of WordPress

- AP and Chicago Style formatting

Qualifications

For the opportunity to become an AmericasComedy.Com editor, you’ll need to have some editing experience in your background. If you feel that you can do any of the above mentioned tasks or think you are the perfect candidate to learn them, then you’re an editor we’d love to have apply for this position!
