Comedian Richard Belzer Supports Legalized Medical Marijuana

Ken Green of Denver’s Examiner.com reported that comedian, actor and author Richard Belzer is intent upon making medical marijuana — in its many medicinal derivatives and forms –  accessible to those suffering from pain, including children. His compassion for those in pain derives from his first hand experience with testicular cancer in 1985.

“There are many things that occur in nature that are readily accessible and that are not exorbitantly expensive that can really help people on a long-term basis without side effects — marijuana being the most prominent of them all — but there is a multitude of them and  [marijuana] just happens to have so many different uses. The idea that it can alleviate the suffering from cancer in children alone should be a call to arms.” –  (from Examiner’s Video Interview with Richard Belzer)

Belzer will be hosting the medical marijuana debate, “Medical Marijuana and the Colorado Amendment: What’s Right for You?” at the inaugural “Plant Medicine Medicine Expo and Healthcare Provider Conference” in Denver on Sept. 25. Belzer feels that medical marijuana is “not a political issue, but one of compassion . . .  of medicine.”

Beltzer is best known for his role as “Detective Munch” on “Law and Order SVU.” Munch is the only fictional character played by a single actor to appear on ten different television shows (on five different networks). Watch him in this interview with Examiner.Com.
