Rob Riggle is Not an Asshole

Breaking news: it’s just an act.

Comedian and Daily Show Correspondent Rob Riggle admits to the Reno-Gazette Journal, “that’s probably an amalgamation of every blustering douche bag I’ve ever met. I’ve seen guys like that my whole life, whether it was the football coach or the drill sergeant or just guys in college.”

Riggle is more known for being the arrogant a-hole of The Daily Show team but has a long billing of comedy gigs and an even longer billing serving in the Marine Corps. “I’ve always had a great affinity for the Marine Corps and for this country. I just went over the 20-year mark, and that’s one of the reasons I’ve stuck it out. I’m going to do another year and a half and then retire at 22 years in.”

A short lived SNL cast member, Riggle studied Theater and Film at the University of Kansas and received a Masters Degree in Public Administration at Webster University. After performing with writing partner Rob Huebel in numerous improvisation groups, he joined the cast of The Daily Show where co-writer John Oliver pushed him to give stand-up a try. His Comedy Central Presents special premiered on March 5, 2010.

Rob Riggle became a household name after numerous bit parts in some of the funniest films in the past few years, most notably the Las Vegas “in the face!!” Officer Franklin in The Hangover, and five-year-old adult Peter Selleck in The Goods: Live Hard. Sell Hard.

Rob Riggle is performing Friday, April 1 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Reno.
