Russell Crowe to Direct Bill Hicks Biopic

Russell Crowe is set to make his feature film directorial debut with a biopic on the late great Bill Hicks. The screenwriter of the film and Crowe’s longtime friend Mark Staufer broke the news to Australian newspaper The Daily Telegraph saying, “Bill Hicks’ life is tragically short, but spectacularly interesting…”
Filming is set to begin next year but the search for an actor to take on the coveted roll still continues. Hicks, who died at the age of 32 from pancreatic cancer, is going to be a tough persona to correctly portray and honor according to fans; from his dead pan delivery and sarcastic sass to his signature cigarette and….water.
Crowe was rumored to be up for the roll back in 2008 before signing on as director, though he might want to think about taking on a second job. Not only does the actor look like Hicks but also his background in drama would make for a great performance. He has my vote.
Who would you like to see play Bill Hicks?
