href="http://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Brewed-Eddie-Explicit/dp/B007EONW00">Fresh Brewed could be a 1940′s production of Warner Bros. Studios. I suspect that if Eddie nicked himself shaving, “Red Ink No. 5″ would spill out onto the sink.

What I’m saying is that Gossling is a cartoon, and in the best of ways. Eddie has a manic energy, across which he stretches his high thin voice. And when he’s keyed into a particular point, that voice gets higher and more shrill with the bizarre vitality that comes with riding an insane tangent to greater and greater silliness.

Which is not to say he shouldn’t be taken seriously. Gossling is reliably hilarious without ever being predictable. Manic and mercurial, Eddie is a moving target, rarely taking a moment to slow down. One bit that does slow down examines how his inadequacy for mathematics prevented him from being an otherwise ideal candidate for a job at NASA. Grounded in the necessity for scientific exactitude, Gossling runs at lower RPMs to imagine himself “ballparkin’ it” in the aeronautics industry, to excellent comedic effect.

His style mixes well with his material. At some level, his intensity pushes his material over the top, and sells it. For example, when he imagines himself in conventional situations like nine-to-five jobs, it’s easy to imagine him straining against the bonds of professionalism. When he describes getting fired at his job and using a surprise glitter attack on his boss, (“What’d you do at lunch, blow a clown?”), the imagery flows naturally and believably.

But Gossling is at his best when he fuses his madcap delivery with material based in awkwardness, with just a sliver of creepy. This he does for his wife’s “benefit,” leaning into her ear at bedtime and whispering something disturbing in a voice reminiscent of Gollum in Lord of the Rings. It’s as troublingly hilarious as one could hope for, and it’s pure Gossling. And his rendition of a man-boy in a onesie, singing: “Baby likes to jig-gle it for mo-therrrr…” is as discomforting and wicked as it gets, and I don’t know if I’ll ever get it out of my head.

Eddie has a light touch that makes his silliness go down easy. His performance is fast-paced and has a way of following illogical logic, corkscrewing from a bizarre premise off to an unlikely side street, without losing the audience. Improbable, but nonetheless enjoyable.

Mixing the dryly sardonic and observational wit of Bugs Bunny with the flaky screwball human failings of Daffy Duck, Gossling’s comedy is an adult-sized take from an inner child and is delightfully unexpected.

You can follow Gossling on Twitter <a

Nowadays pretty much everyone communicates via texts, messages, and chat. If your friends are anything like mine, you get sent links constantly to various – and hopefully funny – internet sensations. You might have noticed the exact same links showing up from different people, and if the mood strikes you, you yourself might send it to someone else thus helping create the status of an internet meme.

Memes are everywhere: links, photos, videos, hashtags, or phrases have spread from person to person with no real explanation as to their quick popularity. Recently we’ve seen some that themselves don’t really provide much value besides entertainment purposes. Yet those also tend to be the ones that make you laugh the hardest.

5. Socially Awkward Penguin
Socially Awkward Penguin has been a popular post for social networking sites since 2010. A reason for its quick spread and popularity comes from how identifiable it is to human nature. dark yet funny, subsequently making it more hilarious. Besides a trending twitter hashtag #sociallyawkwardpenguin, it is also the subject of the tumblr account <a

Shit Girls Say

This is a relatively new addition to the internet, but it has caught on quickly with creators and fans alike. Spawning many copycat videos and variations of generic and often stereotypical “isms” by various groups, all starting with Graydon Sheppard and Kyle Humphrey’s Twitter account Keanu Reeves has never been funnier with just a reaction still from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure paired with philosophical suspicious musings. And at times it can make you think, “what if…” Conspiracy Keanu began in mid 2011 through postings on websites. Not it has it’s own website, <a

Double Rainbow

Early 2010 Paul Vasquez (Hungrybear9562) shocked and awed the world with his documentation of a double rainbow in a YouTube video titled “Yosemitebear Mountain Giant Double Rainbow 1-8-10.” Vasquez’s sincere, over the top, and hilarious reaction to the rare occurrence helped get the attention of Jimmy Kimmel and The Huffington Post. The video has garnered over 33 million views.

Rickrolling is a falsie advertised link that ends up re directing you the music video of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” It’s definitely more fun to rick roll someone than be rick rolled, but the reactions are priceless and all in good fun. What started as an internet practical joke quickly spread beyond the World Wide Web to the 2008 Thanksgiving Day Parade. Though it’s been around a few years, it still remains a classic.
<p

Although contenders Jonah Hill, Melissa McCartney, and Krisitn Wiig did not bring home the golden statuettes, they did have their shining moment at the awards ceremony.

Bridesmaids leading ladies Wiig and Maya Rudolph shared the stage with fellow co-stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, Rose Byrne, and Ellie Kemper to present the award for short film. The highlight of their evening was when Wiig and Rudolph debated whether or not size mattered. Ambiguous as their speech was, we could not tell whether they were talking about film or that certain anatomical feature. “Hate to tell you guys, but it kinda does,” said Wiig. Rudolph countered, “As my grandma used to say, it can be short and still make my toes curl.”

Who can forget the men in the white suits? Fellow comedians Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis presented the award for Best Original Song while playing the cymbals. During the presentation of the award, Galifianakis said the song “Man or Puppet” joined the ranks of other Best Song winners, “When You Wish Upon A Star,” “Moon River” and “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp”.

Probably the most funny and memorable appearance of the evening was by Chris Rock while presenting the award for Best Animated Film. As expected, Rock holds nothing back. He said the following about doing voice-over work: “In animation, you can be anything you want to be. If you’re a fat woman, you can play a skinny princess…If you’re a white man, you can play an Arabian prince. If you’re a black man, you can play a donkey or a zebra.”

Check out some clips here:

<iframe

Fresh off of a trip to South Africa, the international sensation will now be touring America for the next couple months, including here in Sacramento September 8-10.

Always one to work fast, the comedian gave us some classic Francisco material within minutes of being on the phone. Talking about his recent visit to Cape Town he quipped, “I went there, I got a hooker. She put me in a basket, rolled me around in there for about twenty minutes. It cost me two bananas and I lost my wallet.”

All kidding aside, he very much enjoyed his trip, and mentioned that the city has become more hip as of late, thanks in large part to the internet.

“YouTube has done it’s job,” the comedian said excitedly.

Francisco, who began his improv career in Tempe Arizona, has achieved much in his still young career. His critically acclaimed Comedy Central special entitled “Ouch” is somehow still at the top of the network’s most requested performances despite being released five years ago. He’s been shoulder to shoulder with Tonight Show Host Jay Leno, and a member of the MAD TV sketch comedy show, a program known for churning out talent. The legendary Howard Stern was savvy enough to recognize Pablo’s pizzazz, and in 2009 the comedian had a once in a lifetime appearance on his massively popular radio show.

The speed at which Pablo performs is reminiscent of the one and only Robin Williams. He’s renowned for his impressions of celebrities like rocker Ozzy Osbourne and actor Jackie Chan. When asked about the art of coming up with such impressions, Pablo didn’t just explain, he showed us first hand.

“It can happen instantly,” he said, just before his voice broke into a dead-on Transformers impression. “Get ready…it’s TRANSFORMERS! We always have something positive to say…remember Billy, always pay the hooker $200 before she gets in there!” Francisco then immediately turned himself into Charlie Sheen, Michael J. Fox and the guy from the All State car insurance commercials.

“It’s goofin off, and you know making fun of all the TV shows out there,” the comedian said.

Talent like that takes not just a lot of practice, but the ability to think on your feet. His stand-up can twist and turn at any second, and has appropriately been described as “an hour-long comedic jazz rift.” His impressionist capabilities and material are a sight to see.

Francisco’s success isn’t just noted by his followers either. Comedian Dat Phan, winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing in 2003, said of Pablo, “He’s a comedy rock star.” When hearing this Pablo first gushed about his peer, and then gave advice for up and coming comics who aspire to mimic his accomplishments – and maybe even be a rock star themselves.

“This is something everyone needs to understand. You’ve got three or four years before everyone catches on to you. If you’re a DJ or a writer you can do your own badass podcast, put it out there, and you’ll be a star…it’s amazing. I’m a sensation? Well…I’m just a regular guy doing regular things,” he said quite humbly.

Francisco, who’s comedic career started at age 17, mentioned Benny Hill and Rich Little as some of his first inspirations. He also spoke about the late Richard Pryor, whom he watched as a kid with his dad.

“Rich Little, doing that TV show ‘You Go For It’ was fantastic,” Pablo said. “Richard Pryor, you got a 45 year old guy talking about immature things – he did it so good, he did it like a gentlemen! My dad would walk in and say, ‘this guy is so filthy,’ but he’d sit down and watch the whole hour anyway.”

To this day, Pablo remains a comic’s comic. He lives for the stage, and routinely proves it by performing at any and all venues. You would think that a comedian of his stature would be picky – a diva even – but when asked where he likes to perform he admitted to enjoying just about everywhere.

“I like the improvisation. These clubs are getting a lot cooler. These guys are opening up clubs every three months,” Francisco said. “It’s crazy how these guys go, ‘hey these comics are perverts, they’re losers’…we’re millionaires! The crazy thing is you don’t care about the money anymore. The money is already saved, so I would say anything that caters to the microphone – Las Vegas – it doesn’t matter how much it pays as long as it’s available.”

Aside from comedy clubs, Francisco has also stayed busy making his own DVD’s. He just completed filming yet another Comedy Central Special entitled “They Put It Out There” at the Orange County theatre. The funny man gushed when talking about his most recent project.

“It was a beautiful thing. It’s retro, its grunge, it’s a beautiful thing. I’m going to just tell everyone out there, ‘hey man, if you came out to see me, we’re going to make fun of people.’”

For fans who can’t get enough of Pablo or his specials, you can find him on Facebook and on Twitter @Pablo_Francisco. He will also continue touring well after his visit to Sacramento; destinations include the Orlando Improv & Fat Fish Blue from Sept. 15-18, Forum Theatre in Binghamton New York on Sept. 26, and His Majesty’s Theatre in Australia on October 2. You’ve got the lions, the kings of the jungle who sell out every performance. You’ve got your hyenas, the Emcee’s of the world who just keep on lauging. And then you’ve got your honey badgers, Tom Segura. And that’s because Tom doesn’t give a shit. Look at him go after midgets and pregnant Mexicans. Segura doesn’t care. He’ll talk about other men’s bulges. He’ll talk about 80’s porn. Tom Segura doesn’t give a fuck. He’ll take on anything.

Segura has been making the rounds for years. He’s appeared on Conan as well as Showtimes’ Russell Peters Presents and Live at Gotham! and he has his own half hour “Comedy Central Presents Special.” His debut album, Thrilled, is available now at RooftopComedy.com.

When talking to his audience in Minneapolis, Segura goes after their ridiculous standards of temperature. “Well how cold is it?” he asks himself. “Well if you walk to the mailbox, you might die.” And with that joke about the frigid Minnesotan temperatures, Segura has his audience warmed up for nearly an hour of comedy.

He flabbergasts the audience with his goal to get, “really, really really, crazy, super fat.” Expressing his desire to gain between five and eight hundred pounds is just more proof that he’ll go wherever he desires for a joke. His stand-up is not so much about disgusting shock value as it is about pushing the limits of social norms. There are no qualms when he decides to impersonate a black audience member shortly after he recounted a story in which he and a midget got in a verbal argument. And the best part is, he makes it knee-slapping lose your lungs funny.

Another one of Segura’s gems is his observation of the three types of stupid that there are in the world. There are the “stupid looking people that do stupid things and people that speak stupidly.” The stupid looking? Not their fault he says. “Plus you need them on days when you’re feeling bad about yourself.” People that do stupid things? All Tom needs to say is, “It’s stupid, but it’s fun.” That leaves the people who say stupid things. It wouldn’t be fair to spoil what he says about them so you’re going to have to buy the CD to find out. Just remember, Segura’s a honey badger. And he’ll say what he wants to get his point across.

With a very solid fifty five minutes of stand-up, Thrilled reminds us that sometimes the comedy that doesn’t care is the comedy that should be most cherished. Segura will have you laughing out loud and hitting the repeat button every time.

For more comedy from Segura follow him on Twitter <a

The Bostonian is young enough to connect with the dude demographic. At the same time you are left wanting to know how he progresses a few years down the road in what should be a terrific career.

¡Surpriso! is a fast paced look into what it’s like to be a man in your mid-20‘s tight roping the threshold from post-adolescence to adulthood. Noonan blends introspection with topical humor and a critical flair hyper-stimulated millennials can relate to. The easy targets are there. On the track “Weed,” Noonan examines ex-stoners who ditched the grass but still want the glory. On “Facebook,” Noonan hits a topic I’ve long been wanting a comic to do justice — the internet porn “share” button.

Noonan reveals not just what he likes, but who he is.On “Boston,” his roots help him score some self-deprecation points when he sarcastically talks about the famous accent being a sure-fire panty-dropper. Pleasantly, Noonan’s accent isn’t all that bad. The penultimate track on ¡Surpriso! is a revelation of a distant family link to Amelia Earhart that will leave you hitting wikipedia and re-examining your drinking habits.

While ¡Supriso! has some endearing moments, there are also spots where Noonan isn’t afraid to push some politically incorrect buttons. Early on we find out how having a drinking problem really isn’t that big of a deal when your big brother spends the holidays coming out of the closet. And in “Magic & Sheryl” we find out when getting HIV might be worth it, and why cancer only had a passing interest in an adult contemporary staple.

Strippers, karaoke and A&E’s Beyond Scared Straight all make cameos on ¡Surpriso!, which was recorded at Great Scott just outside of Boston and produced by Rooftop Comedy. It’s a solid set that goes by quick, and I might add, has a smooth, polished audio quality. (You’d be surprised how big of an issue this is for many comedy albums.)

Before you know it, Noonan closes the show with his acoustic guitar singing about how he wants to drink and fly a plane. Don’t we all? It’s a great moment and you can feel the crowd connecting with the guy. Noonan has had his share of emerging success in the Northeast as a semi-finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival and getting regular work in New York City. With ¡Surpriso! he expands his reach and I hope it’s one that catches on.

To read more about this enjoyable comedian visit his website at Adam McKay and Will Ferrell that allows videos to be rated by peers on how funny or how not funny people think they are. Many contributors happen to be famous comics and actors who have surprised us in one way or another with their ridiculous videos. I took a look at a lot of videos and narrowed down five of my favorites. Before everyone gets their panties in a bunch- these are MY favorite FunnyorDie videos. If you have a different opinion, we’d love to hear what you think.

5. Prop 8 The Musical: First off, I was a little hesitant to even consider this one. It’s a bit racy, considering Jack Black is Jesus. But man I am a sucker for a good musical number! Not to mention all the great people in this. Um, John C. Reilly, Maya Rudolphe, Margaret Cho, Andy Richter, Rashida Jones, Neil Patrick Harris…the list goes on. The music is so incredibly catchy I want to download the song and sing it in my car. It’s just too worthy to not be in my top five.

<iframe

Bieber Takes Over: Ok, shoot me. But before you get all worked up, check it out. The Biebs ain’t so bad. I know what you’re wondering: “Are you an 11 year old girl?” Actually, Justin Bieber is just funny to laugh at, especially when he is trying to act tough. “Hey what’s up internet? It’s Justin Bieber. And I’ve taken over FunnyOrDie. It’s mine. I bought it. And anything that isn’t Bieber dies!” He isn’t a comedian but he definitely likes to cause drama with them. If you watch stand-up comic <a

Between Two Ferns: Funny man Zach Galifinakis (The Hangover) has created this spacey, off the wall character that we aren’t sure is real or just an act. When I watch “Between Two Ferns” – his series on FunnyorDie – I actually think he might be this oddball weirdo. But then I reconsider because I don’t know if anyone can possibly be that strange. For the most part all ” Between Two Ferns” are a bit uncomfortable to watch but are so worth it. The funniest is this interview with Jennifer Aniston and Tila Tequila.

<iframe

The Hills: Actor James Franco (Pineapple Express, 127 Hours) and actress Mila Kunis (The Black Swan, Friends With Benefits) push aside Lauren Conrad and her posse from The Hills to create a short parody of the show. Let me tell you, Franco and Kunis may not be doing anything exciting here, other than imitating Audria Patridge and Justin Bobby, but I would still rather watch them than actually watch The HIlls. There are enough puppy dog faces and “yeahs” from Kunis that it will make you sick to your stomach, while Franco says the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. Is it just me or was the wig on Franco the icing on the cake?

<iframe

The Landlord: Am I being too cliche? This may be the most viewed FunnyorDie video, but all for good reason. The plot goes that Will Ferrell hasn’t paid his rent and the landlord is waiting at his door to bug him. The bizarre part: the landlord is a baby! She curses and is shockingly a drunkard. I’ve seen it too many times to count, but it never gets old. Little fun fact: Baby Pearl is actually the daughter of Adam McKay. Many child psychologists got on Ferrell and McKay’s case for “child exploitation.” McKay expressed at the time, “Fortunately she is in this great stage now where she repeats anything you say to her and then forgets it right away, which is key. She has not said the ‘B-word’ since we shot the thing.” The short premiered in 2007 and soon after Pearl was in <a

It’s 2012 and according to the Mayan’s calendar, we are not going to be happy campers come December. Whether it was the Mayan civilization’s intuition that the world is going to end, or simply that they were wiped out before having time to finish their prophetic calendar – the main point is that there are some freakin’ funny movies releasing in 2012!

Below are the top five up-and-coming funny flicks for 2012 with all the trailers!

(Follow us on Twitter @AmericasComedy and “Like” our AmericasComedy.com Facebook fan page)

5. The Dictator - Here we go again. Another one of Sacha Baron Cohen’s ridiculous visions to make America awkwardly uncomfortable. Paramount Pictures states that the film will, “tell the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.” Baron Cohen will play the role of General Admiral Alladeen, a dictator from a country called the Republic of Wadiya. The truth is, this movie looks way more enticing to me than Borat or Bruno. Maybe it’s the way the trailer shows Cohen paying Megan Fox in jewels after a night of who knows what (although we’re pretty sure we know what). The whole concept of the film is far fetched and insulting…meaning I must see it! Release date: May 11.

4. The Three Stooges - The Farrelly Brothers have come together to recreate the silliness and slapstick humor of Curly, Moe, and Larry. The actors playing the famous three will be Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso. According to IMBD, “While trying to save their childhood orphanage, Moe, Larry, and Curly inadvertently stumble into a murder plot and wind up starring in a reality TV show.” What can I say about this other than, it’s the Three Stooges, of course I want to see it! The film will be released April 13.

3. A Thousand Words - How am I supposed to laugh in a movie where Eddie Murphy barely speaks? I guess he’s about to prove some serious skills in his new film A Thousand Words. The story is about a man who finds that he only has a thousand words to say before he dies, thus he becomes quite frugal with his usually big mouth, making sure to not talk. He is put in serious situations where he fumbles to answer in any way other than actually speaking. This should be interesting to watch, since I’m almost positive I’ve never seen Eddie Murphy be quiet before. The theatrical release is March 23.

2. 21 Jump Street - Hollywood has taken numerous classics and butchered them. Will 21 Jump Street have the same fate as those unfortunate remakes? I hope not, seeing as stand-up comedian and actor Jonah Hill – who co-stars in the movie alongside Channing Tatum (Step Up, G.I. Joe) – actually wrote the script. The film is based on the television series of the same name which got actor Johnny Depp’s career started. Depp even confirmed his cameo appearance in the film. How can they go wrong? Theatrical release: March 16.

1. American Reunion - This is the fourth installment to the American Pie movies and the entire original cast will be participating! The plot looks quite simple: the class of 1999 returns to East Great Falls for their high school reunion. It may not be much, but if it’s anything like the old ones, it will be raunchy and lovable. Oh ya, did I forget to mention that “Jim’s dad” (Eugene Levy) may hook up with Stifler’s mom, the original MILF, Jennifer Coolidge? American Reunion is scheduled for theatrical release April 6, 2012.

Ken Jeong star in commercials with NBA phenoms Dwight Howard and Derrick Rose, helping to promote the the shoe company Adidas. Nike is now using a similar strategy, hiring a comedian themselves - Parks and Recreation’s Aziz Ansari. This new commercial features one of my favorite comedians and an athlete I love to hate – Kobe Bryant.

“Hi, my name is Aziz Ansari, and I’m on the Kobe System,” says Ansari, while sitting in a directors chair wearing a white and black tuxedo. Using his well crafted story-telling skills, the comedian delves into how he went to a comedy club only to be “bumped” by another performer, Mr. Bryant.

Re-transcribing the whole joke would only butcher it, so check out the video here:

Sporting brands like Nike and Adidas have done a cool job of using humor and over-the-top cliches in an effort to combat some of the criticism that comes from pretending a new pair of shoes will make someone’s mediocre athletic ability all of a sudden super human. In the same way Grant Hill and Sprite decided to make fun of themselves in the 90′s with commercials that showed Hill holding up bags of money every time he talked about how amazing Sprite was, Nike is using Ansari to revel in their ridiculous marketing gimmicks to get people buying shoes.

For more comedy news and exclusive interviews visit our debut stand-up special Comedy Person. He wrote for King of the Hill for three seasons, was considered as a cast member for Saturday Night Live in 2008 for a role as Barack Obama and starred in the movie Medicine for Melancholy.

In his presentation in Comedy Person Cenac comes off as a refined and well-polished comedian with precise timing, smooth transitions and over an hour of laugh out loud material.

Fellow Daily Show correspondent John Hodgman performs the first track on the album, attempting to explain that Wyatt has obtained a role in a movie that he absolutely can’t turn down: Beverly Hills Cop 8. Shortly after, Wyatt comes on stage to massive applause and jubilation and launches right into his banter on people without television. (Guess what? They all have laptops). For a man who works in television it certainly becomes difficult when people around him don’t even partake in the medium.

From there he launches into the Internet’s ubiquitous obsession with cat videos. He points out that while President Obama’s ratings fluctuate, cats’ never do. (Republicans take note, this information could be vital in the upcoming election.) Furthermore cats routinely kick the President’s ass in numbers by ridiculous margins. And how much does Wyatt love cat videos? He loves them so much, yet HE HATES CATS!

When talking about a friend’s 30th birthday party, Wyatt takes some time to rail against Medieval Times. After noting that the location for a 30 year-old’s party should not be the simultaneous location for an 11 year-old’s party, he wonders aloud how Medieval Times will change in the future. All we can say is that it involves Hispanics speaking with British accents.

At different points Cenac expresses his struggle and often times inability to be normal. And of course by normal he means a well-crafted insult maker. He admits that his occasional “Yo Mama” joke would be “not so much a slam as a story of triumph.” He also expressed his struggle to be “black” as a child. Often times being a black sellout was associated with the term “Oreo.” Cenac says, “I don’t think people would be so compelled to be sellouts if it didn’t sound so tasty.” Popular and delicious? Okay by him.

Cenac incorporates racial humor without having to rely on it. He avoids major mention of the fact that he has a career in television—no doubt working at Comedy Central could produce some very good stories. Cenac is a very good, stand-alone comedy person. His light obsession with pop culture, his strong observational humor and his affinity for being nerdy make him highly entertaining and a must listen for even casual comedy fans. Much like a description of a YouTube video in one of his early tracks, he resembles a cat jumping in and out of the box as both member and observer of society’s hilarious misgivings.

Cenac doesn’t have a Twitter account, but you can<a
