‘The Wire: The Musical’ and White Boy Problems

The HBO television series The Wire had a 5-season run and if the writers at Funny or Die had any say in the matter the show’s success wouldn’t end there. A short parody transforms the gritty drama into “The Wire: The Musical.” A fake New York Times quote featured in the video says,”I’m pretty sure David Simon [show creator] doesn’t know they’re doing this. But if he did, he’d love it.” The truth is that quote turns out to be pretty honest. Simon actually stated, “I woke up this morning to an an email from Michael K. Williams [an actor from the show] with this video linked. Hilarious. Just great.”
