Viewers Choose Comedy Over Reality Shows

These days television is being flooded with all kinds of reality shows, putting a new spin on funny. However, TV’s premiere week seems to be telling a different story. The ratings results suggest that viewers prefer comedy over reality shows. Here’s what we have so far:
Thanks to a naked Ashton Kutcher, ”Two and a Half Men” scored a whopping 27.7 million viewers for CBS, an all-time high for the series and the best premiere of the new season.
“Two Broke Girls,” also on CBS, had a huge opening, scoring 19.1 million viewers. Zooey Deschanel used her charms to draw 10 million viewers to see her in “New Girl.” ”Modern Family,” riding the Golden Globe Awards waves, has delivered the best rating performance in the show’s history. ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars” drew 18.6 million viewers, quite a drop from the last season’s premiere.
Fox’s “X Factor” debuted with 12.5 million viewers, which would be ok if it wasn’t for Simon Cowell saying he would not consider the show successful unless it drew 20 million viewers.
Everyone seemed to steer clear of CW’s “H8R” with a meager 1.3 million viewers. The future for Whitney Cumming’s show “Whitney” doesn’t look good. The show is hanging by a thread for the feisty stand-up comedian and might end up in the cancellation bin.
