Seth MacFarlane is moving up in the world. MacFarlane is set to host the Academy Awards on February 24.
Inside Movies reported that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that MacFarlane would be the emcee of the 85th annual Oscars.
As we know, MacFarlane is the creator of the comedy film Ted and the comedy series American Dad, Family Guy, and The Cleveland Show. But can he turn off the mischief enough to emcee a formal event?
“My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast,” MacFarlane said.
Although MacFarlane has never hosted an awards ceremony, he has recently hosted Saturday Night Live and of course, has hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast.
Due to his $434 million worldwide film, Ted, MacFarlane will fall in a category with others who come from a movie and TV background, like Jon Stewart, Ellen Degeneres, and Chris Rock, Inside Movies reported.
With the king of pop culture mischief emceeing the Oscars, there’s no telling what’s in store.
