Welcome To The Stage!

Welcome to the Stage is a mini-series that follows four San Francisco Bay Area comedians as they perform around the city – from open mics at laundromats and dive bars to historical comedy clubs like The Purple Onion and the Punchline in San Francisco. It features Pamela Ames, Janine Brito, Dana LoVecchio, and Marcella Arguello.
It’s based on an idea that Ames had at an open mic to share the wild and crazy world of comedy that these women experience on a daily basis. “We are in such a unique and fascinating position to many people, plus San Francisco is so picturesque and cool and a great place to live and film.” Director Loren Risker helped turn Ames’ vision into a reality, and called upon editor Daniel Jarvis from Dallas, Texas to help film and edit what is now Welcome to the Stage.
“What makes it so great is that all of the characters are very unique – we all come from very different backgrounds and doing stand-up comedy is the tie that binds us,” Ames said. “It comes across as very funny and moving at the same time. It has substance and humor, but it isn’t canned, scripted, or made into cheesy reality TV by adding a contest.”
They will be previewing the mini series at a comedy show scheduled for December 1st at the Dark Room Theatre in San Francisco. Here is a teaser. Enjoy!
